Race Bank here we come  

Centrica has contracted GEO to perform the site investigations for their offshore wind farm, Race Bank. GEO will initially carry out 50 deep borings, which may be expanded to include 160 deep CPT, as well as CPT and vibrocore for the cable route. Race Bank, located off the coast of Skegness, is planned as a 620 MW wind farm with 160 turbines.

Engineering consultancy for Walney 2  

GEO cunducts engineering consultancy for ISC Consulting Engineers regarding foundation design of the transformer platform at the offshore wind park, Walney 2, located in the Irish Sea. The design is based on conventional and numerical modeling of soil-foundation interaction.

Consulting for Maersk Drilling  

GEO carries out engineering consulting for the possible installation of a Maersk Drilling semisubmersible directly on the seabed, at different shallow water locations in the Caspian Sea. GEO consults regarding the stability of the vessel under environmental loads, applying conventional and numerical methods of analyses.

Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link advanced laboratory testing  

GEO's laboratory is currently carrying out advanced geotechnical tests for the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link project, see femern.com. The project includes an extensive test programme on Paleogene clay and Clay Till. The objective of the project is to provide high quality strength- and deformation parameters for designing the bridge or tunnel. The project will be finalized in the beginning of 2011. Part of the testing is carried out by our partners at Deltares and NGI.

Krieger's Flak investigations completed  

GEO has successfully completed phase 2 of the site investigations at Krieger's Flak 1 offshore wind farm. They included geotechnical boreholes and continuous cpt tests, carried out with our new cpt unit, GEOtop. The core samples are now being tested and analyzed at our laboratory and the final reports are being prepared for our client, EnBw.

Railway tunnel in Helsingborg 

The Swedish town Helsingborg is establishing a whole new quarter which entails a new railway tunnel. GEO is performing geotechnical investigations for the cut and cover tunnel. These include drilling and geophysical borehole logging as well as laboratory testing. Our client is Helsingborg Municipality and the project is carried out in cooperation with Rambøll, Malmberg and Sweco.

Jack-up Platform Conference 

GEO participates with both article and lecture presentation at the 12th International Conference - The jack-up platform in London this week.  The paper presentation is in cooperation with Maersk Drilling and the topic is "Spudcan Penetration FE Simulation of Punch-Through for Sand over Clay". Krieger's Flak 1 revisited 

EnBw has contracted GEO to perform site investigations at the Krieger's Flak 1 offshore wind farm. GEO is to carry out borings at 30-40 turbine positions, as well as lab work and the final reports. The initial site investigations were performed by GEO in 2008. Krieger's Flak 1 is the German part of the transnational offshore wind farm project between Denmark, Sweden and Germany.

Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm

 

GEO continues its successful site investigations in Great Britain. From the Welsh Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm we continue to the projected Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm in Greater Wash, where we will conduct 60 deep CPT tests for Centrica.

Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm

This summer GEO is at the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm conducting a site investigation for RWE npower renewables. The giant wind farm is located off the coast of North Wales and GEO carries out approximately 160 CPT's using our heavy seabed rig GEOscope.

BWEA Offshore Wind 09

GEO will attend the BWEA's annual offshore wind event in Westminster on 24th-25th June. It is the leading event dedicated to the development of offshore wind energy in the UK. GEO will present its long history of providing geotechnical services to the offshore wind energy industry.

Alternative foundation design for Walney 1

ISC Consulting Engineers has asked GEO to assist with alternative foundation design for the transformer platform at the offshore wind park, Walney 1, located in the Irish Sea. GEO carries out assessment of the design soil profiles and parameters and three-dimensional finite element analyses of the mudmat-soil interaction.

As of today, all the Danish Geotechnical Institute's Bulletins can be downloaded for free on this website - see under Articles. The first bulletin was published in 1955 and they soon became a part of the geotechnical scientific litterature.

GEO is back at Rødsand II Wind Park

GEO is back at Rødsand II Wind Park, carrying out geotechnical investigations. CPT-tests at every turbine position shall verify that the excavated sea bed is fulfilling the design requirement before installing the foundations for the wind turbines. The client is the joint venture Aarsleff/Billfinger Berger JV for E.ON AB.

GEO performs geotechnical engineering for ISC Consulting Engineers

GEO assesses the soil conditions and assists with alternative modelling in the design of the foundations for two new ?star oil platforms? to be built in the North Sea, Danish Sector. ISC Consulting Engineers in Denmark carries out the design of the platforms for Noreco A/S and Bladt Industries / DONG Energy.

In-situ chemical oxidation for DONG Energy

This spring, GEO will carry out a large-scale remediation at a transformer station in Alleroed, Denmark, for DONG Energy. A pilot project has already shown how injecting the soil with a particular chemical substance can treat it from chlorinated compounds.

PCPTs for DONG Walney Ltd.

DONG Walney Ltd. has contracted GEO to conduct geotechnical work in terms of Seabed Deployed Deep Push Cone Penetration Testing (PCPT) and vibrocorings at turbine positions at the Walney Offshore Windfarm in the Irish Sea. Also, an additional laboratory classification and testing programme on samples from the vibrocorings has been carried out.

GEO performs geotechnical consultancy for Maersk Drilling

In connection with Maersk Drilling's new jack-up rig installation offshore Norway, GEO has carried out site geophysical survey, geotechnical investigation, as well as engineering assessment of the rig foundations at two preselected locations.

GEO drills for the Copenhagen Metro

GEO has commenced the third stage of investigations into the new Metro extension, called Cityringen, in Copenhagen this fall. 120 new boreholes will be drilled, as well as hydrogeological and geophysical surveys for the Copenhagen Metro.

Site investigations for Centrica

This fall GEO carries out site investigations at the offshore wind farm, LINCS, off the coast of Skegness. They include CPT samplings as well as deep boreholes drilled from a jack up platform. GEO also will perform laboratory tests and produce the final report to our client, the British energy company Centrica.
